America is the only continent expanding from the North Pole to the South Pole region. It has a length of over 14.500 kilometres. The land covers an area of 41.4 million kilometres square. South America used to be an island which is the reason for its unique animal world being able to develop on its own.
North- and South America are already connected since 2 or 3 million years. Animal species of the north were able to settle in the south and vice versa. The puma is one of the best and most known examples.
